We are now seeking a
Research Coordinator
for the Kvantum Institute which facilitates international subject-specific and multidisciplinary research capabilities and the associated doctoral education capacities in collaboration with the Kvantum Institutional research staff and the University of Oulu Graduate School (UniOGS).
The position is full-time and permanent, starting on October 1st, 2025.
Key Responsibilities
As a Research Coordinator, you will play a key role in enhancing the multidisciplinary research capabilities of the spearhead and emerging project researchers affiliated with the Kvantum Institute, and within the University of Oulu’s strategic focus on current thematic in global challenges, such as biodiversity loss and climate change (50% of your time). In addition, you will contribute to the development of inter- and multidisciplinary doctoral education and research initiatives inspired by the foresight activities of the Kvantum Institute (20%). A further 30% of your responsibilities will involve supporting postgraduate education and research coordination in collaboration with the UniOGS, faculties, the Kvantum Institute, and other internal and external stakeholders.
Main tasks
- Coordinating and active assembly of multidisciplinary research programmes
- Supporting the spearhead and emerging projects of the Kvantum Institute
- Supporting national and European (EU) research programme development and increasing engagement
- Acting as a University of Oulu liaison and promoter within EU R&D programme building
- Coordinating, planning, developing, and implementing multidisciplinary doctoral training in collaboration with UniOGS
- Preparing and coordinating open and internal calls for doctoral candidate recruitment, including EU-funded opportunities
- Acting as the presenter in doctoral programme committee meetings
- Managing budgeting, reporting, and communication related to doctoral education
- Participating in the planning and execution of outreach and marketing activities for doctoral programmes
- Collaborating with strategic stakeholders and partner organizations
- Engaging in national, Nordic, Arctic, and University of the Arctic (UArctic) networks, in the fields of natural sciences and technology
- Additional tasks may be assigned by the employer

What We Are Looking For
We are seeking a proactive, development-oriented individual who:
- Holds a doctoral degree
- Has strong organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrates initiative, responsibility, and enthusiasm
- Can manage multiple tasks independently and effectively

- Masters spoken and written Finnish and English languages

Salary and Terms
The position is permanent, starting on October 1st, 2025. The salary is based on level 11 of the demand level chart for other expert and support staff of Finnish universities. In addition, a salary component based on personal work performance will be paid (maximum of 50% of the job-specific component). The typical salary range is 4600-4800 €/kk. A trial period of 6 months is applied to the position.
