Faculty of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering, CWC - Radio Technologies

The University of Oulu is a multidisciplinary, international research university, with about 3,600 employees who produce new knowledge based on high-standards research and provide research based education to build a more sustainable, smarter, and more humane world. The University of Oulu community has about 17,000 people in total. Our northern scientific community operates globally and creates conditions for the emergence of innovations.

6G Flagship is the world’s first major 6G research program running from 2018 to 2028. We are already a team of 400 researchers from 50 different countries. Having built the rigorous research program defined in our 6G White Papers, we are constantly looking for talents defining the 6G future with us. During 2023, a large number of international (Korea and Japan), EU-funded (Hexa-X-II), and national projects will be started. These new activities and our flagship base funding constantly need new talented researchers.

6GFlagship of the Centre for Wireless Communications (CWC)  is opening a position for

Doctoral Researcher

in the algorithm design and hardware/software acceleration for Robust 6G wireless systems. We are seeking talented and highly motivated doctoral researchers interested in 6G wireless research. This call is looking for a candidate enthusiastic about advancing a
vision for 6G networks that are robust to variability in a wireless environment. Especially in this call, we are looking for a person who is ready to contribute to more than one of the research themes below for  6G applications:

  • Robust wireless algorithm design
  • Proof-of-concept implementation of the algorithm by leveraging the experimental resources available at the wireless testbeds of the 6G Flagship
  • Hardware and software acceleration of 6G physical layer  algorithms
  • Machine learning for  6G networks

The faculty and the research group

CWC belongs to the Faculty of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering and works on technologies relevant to evolving 6G wireless systems as part of the 6G Flagship. The Flagship contains algorithm designs and their implementation teams to work on the relevant algorithm, architecture, computation, and design aspects of supporting the realization of future wireless devices and systems.
