UNIVERSITY INTERN, CONTINUOUS LEARNING AND MASSIVE OPEN ONLINE COURSES

Are you interested in developing massive online open courses that can be taken from anywhere and by anyone around the world? If the answer is yes, this might be your chance to learn more about MOOCs and how to build them effectively!

About the position

In this internship, you will work with the Oulu Business School’s Continuous Learning Solution Designer and the faculty’s Digipedamentor to take part in the faculty’s continuous learning projects as an intern. In this internship, you will take a hands-on approach on MOOC-building, learn how to elevate the quality and retention rates of online courses, and develop yourself as an educational designer.

Daily tasks include:

• Taking part in the project processes of MOOC and online course development, including assistant role in project planning, follow-through and project reporting.
• Brainstorm new digital pedagogical methods and learning structures, and build open and free courses for everyone.
• Designing and developing scalable, interactive and gamified continuous learning modules.
• Implementing and creating interactive learning materials with guidance from teachers, solution designer and digipedamentor.
• Creating audio-, video-, image- and text materials, focusing especially in quality metatexting with accessibility in mind.
• Building the faculty’s MOOCs on LMS-platforms (Moodle in DigiCampus).
• Possibly assistant digipedagogical support for teachers.

This internship will provide you with the skills for designing MOOCs in higher education. During the internship, you’ll get to see what kind of project management skills, teaching and educational design skills, and digipedagogical requirements and quality criteria are applied to the development of massive online open courses and how these are reflected in course planning and preparation work.

Who are you?

The position is suitable for a person who has presentable skills or studies in pedagogy.

Suitable applicants must have either started their pedagogical studies for teachers or have started similar or applicable studies in pedagogy (ie. Learning and Educational Technology, Global Education, Early Childhood Education).

We also hope that the applicants have studies or experience in at least three of the following things:

1. Pedagogical studies for teachers or similar pedagogical studies (also ongoing).
2. Studies and/or work experience regarding digipedagogical skills and digital learning design and pedagogical planning.
3. Basic skills in project coordinating and project planning.
4. Basic understanding or studies on how to use learning analytics or similar analytics.
5. basic understanding of educational metatexting in digital environments.
6. Presentable experience on using Moodle as a LMS platform.
7. Presentable experience on using H5P tools as a part of interactive learning paths.
8. Basic understanding of digital accessibility.
9. Enthusiasm to try new things and to develop different kinds of solutions to motivate learners.

The task does not require knowledge of the Finnish language. You will manage well in the tasks with fluent English.

Salary

The internship starts on 6th of August 2025 or as soon as possible there after, and last until 6th of February 2026. The salary will be 1646,31 e/month (before taxes).
