University Trainee 

for a fixed-term, full-time position for the period 17 August – 20 December 2026 (or as agreed)

Centre for Pedagogical Support and Development (OPE) of the University of Oulu is an expert partner for teachers, teaching teams, and degree programmes in pedagogy, digital pedagogy, teaching systems, and educational media. We offer workshops, support, consultations, media and online course production services, and provide training and development for higher education teaching. 

Job description 

We are looking for a University Trainee to join us in a variety of planning and coordination tasks related to teaching support. 

You will work as part of the Pedagogical Support and Development Team at the OPE Centre and gain a unique insight into everyday university teaching, pedagogical development work, and the activities of our centre, as well as experience in collaborating with various stakeholder groups. 

As a University Trainee, you will contribute to the successful implementation of ongoing development initiatives in line with your skills. Your tasks will include, for example, pedagogical and content-related planning of an orientation package for staff working in teaching and guidance roles, as well as practical implementation tasks for a new, flexibly completed learning module on the Howspace-platform.  
 
Your duties will also include tasks related to the planning and implementation of the Northern Pedagogy – Celebration of Teaching at the University of Oulu -seminar and celebration event as part of the planning team, as well as other tasks that support and facilitate the day-to-day operations of the OPE Centre. 
 
The duration of the traineeship is approximately 3–4 months, depending on the scope of the related study module.  

Required competence 

To succeed in this role, we expect you to have: 

  • Master’s-level university studies underway 
  • Fluent oral and written English skills 
  • An understanding of online learning and the design of engaging, activating online learning modules 
  • A positive, proactive approach to work and the ability to work independently 
  • Strong problem-solving skills and excellent teamwork skills 
  • Motivation to learn and to find and to build new solutions 

We also value understanding of, and possible experience with, different learning environments and educational technologies as support for teaching and learning. 

The traineeship must be part of your master’s-level higher education studies. 

Duration and salary 

Duration: Fixed-term, full-time employment from 17 August to 20 December 2026 (or as agreed) 

Salary: EUR 1,736.41 per month
