We are now looking for a

Doctoral researcher in Catalysts design for C1 chemicals production reactions

to join us in the Environmental and Chemical Engineering Research unit at the Faculty of Technology.

Environmental and Chemical Engineering research unit combines the expertise of process and environmental engineering, control engineering and inorganic chemistry to reach new technological and material innovations towards cleaner and sustainable environment. The research unit is composed of about 50 scientists, and offers unique infrastructure and environment for the research.

About the job

The successful candidate is expected to conduct high-level scientific research related to heterogeneous catalyst design, manufacturing, characterizations, and testing those to produce C1-chemicals and other products from CO2 via the green reaction routes using e.g., reverse water gas shift reaction (RWGS). The main tasks are to find, define, and plan the green reaction routes from CO2 to green products using the developed homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysts, as well participation in results dissemination.

As a doctoral researcher you need to be able to master a knowledge on the subject area.

Who are you?

In order to succeed and enjoy the position, we expect from you: 

  • Master's degree in the relevant field such as: Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Applied Chemistry.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English.
  • Sufficient written and spoken Finnish skills are found as advantage.

Salary

The position is fixed-term for 28 months as of 1.6.2024 or as soon as possible thereafter. A trial period of 6 months is applied in the position.

The salary will be based on the levels 2-4 of the demand level chart for teaching and research staff of Finnish universities. In addition, a salary component based on personal work performance will be paid (maximum of 50 % of the job-specific component). Starting gross salary will be approx. 2500-2800 € per month (before taxes).
