Research Assistants

Oulu Business School is looking for two (2) graduate thesis workers to join our Business Analytics team as research assistants. Both positions are fixed-term for 6 months. Both positions relate to the development of higher education processes and tools at Oulu Business, and thus require previous or on-going studies in the field of economics and business administration, and understanding of the domain of Business Analytics.

About the job

Position 1: Research Assistant in Business Analytics – Decision-making and quality management

This role involves research and analysis of higher education and degree programme development, with an emphasis on quality and knowledge management. As this role relates closely to our international accreditation systems and assurance of learning, previous experience or knowledge of higher education is a definite asset. This position entails collaborating with business school faculty, so good communication skills are a must.

Position 2: Research Assistant in Business Analytics – Tools and methods

This role involves research and analysis of different data analytics and data visualization tools for higher education and degree programme management. As this role is more practice-oriented, previous experience with working with tools and technologies such as Tableau, PowerBI and similar, is required.

Who are you?

Hold a relevant background degree in business studies, and are a student in the Business Analytics Master’s Degree Programme.

You are goal oriented and have the ability to work independently

You have good communication and collaboration skills, fluent English skills, and the ability to communicate scientific findings both verbally and in writing

You have progressed well in your studies and are able to start working on your master’s thesis

What we offer?

Salary

The position is fixed-term for 6 months as of 01.06.2024 or as soon as possible thereafter.

The salary will be based on the level 1 of the demand level chart for teaching and research staff of Finnish universities. In addition, a salary component based on personal work performance will be paid (maximum of 50 % of the job-specific component). Starting gross salary will be approx. 2200-2300 € per month (before taxes).  A trial period of 3 months is applied in the position.
