We are now looking for a

Professor in Pediatrics

to join us in the Research Unit of Clinical Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine. Research of the Faculty of Medicine is mainly focused on “Molecular and environmental basis for lifelong health” in which we generate greater understanding of the factors that affect health during life and how this knowledge can be translated into the benefit of lifelong health. In addition, we promote learning into the possibilities of combining ICT with health and service research to create new innovations in connected health.

Who are you?

Qualifications for successful candidate include a doctoral degree in medicine, high quality scientific competence, experience in conducting and supervising scientific research, ability to give high quality education based on research and supervision of doctoral theses. We also expect evidence of international collaboration in their field of research and training, and an ability to act as an academic leader.

When assessing the applicant’s merits, issues taken into consideration include scientific publications and other research achievements, teaching experience, pedagogical training and other teaching merits. In addition, the applicant’s activity in the scientific community, success in acquiring domestic and international research funding, as well as international scientific experience and activities will be taken into consideration.

The teaching language in University of Oulu is Finnish. The clinical duty requires fluent Finnish, clinical experience, and registered rights to practice medicine as a specialist in pediatrics in Finland.

Salary

The salary will be based on the levels 8-10 of the demand level chart for teaching and research personnel of the salary system of Finnish Universities. In addition, a salary component based on personal work performance will be paid (maximum of 50 % of the job-specific component). A trial period of 6 months is applied in the position.

    8. Plans for future directions of teaching in the discipline concerned
  7. Details regarding acquisition of research funds 
  8. A brief research and action plan 
  9. Contact details of 2–4 persons available for recommendation.
