We are looking for a
interested in studying the composition of the surfaces of particles and droplets relevant to atmospheric science to join us in the Center for Atmospheric Research at the Faculty of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering.
The doctoral researcher position is part of the Research Council of Finland research project "Surface chemistry of realistic atmospheric particles and droplets investigated with novel X-ray methods," led by senior research fellow Dr. Jack J. Lin.
As a doctoral researcher, you will carry out research work, including at advanced light sources (synchrotron and free-electron laser facilities), within a multi-disciplinary research team, and publish research results in leading international scientific journals.
The doctoral researcher is also expected to apply for doctoral study rights at the University of Oulu Graduate School. More information about doctoral studies is available from the University of Oulu Graduate School.

The Center for Atmospheric Research works to understand the importance of aerosols for various processes at the heart of atmospheric chemistry and global climate. We are a multidisciplinary group with expertise in both traditional aerosol measurements and synchrotron-based X-ray spectroscopy measurements and atmospheric modeling from the scale of individual particles and droplets to global climate models.

The position is fixed-term for 3 years starting 1 January 2025 or as soon as possible thereafter.
The salary will be based on levels 2-4 of the demand level chart for teaching and research staff of Finnish universities. In addition, a salary component based on personal work performance will be paid (a maximum of 50 % of the job-specific component). The starting gross salary will be approximately 2500 € per month before taxes. A trial period of 6 months is applied for the position.
