We are now looking for an

International Affairs Coordinator 

to join the Strategy and Science Policy unit at the University of Oulu. This is a versatile and engaging role supporting and promoting the University of Oulu’s internationalization and global competence in research, education, and partnerships as part of the International Affairs team. 

Job Description 

As an International Affairs Coordinator, you will play a key role in advancing and supporting internationalization themes and developing monitoring and reporting mechanisms. Together with the international affairs team, you will coordinate and facilitate collaboration between faculties and service units, and contribute to the development of internal processes and a culture of cooperation. 

Your responsibilities will include: 

  • Promoting, supporting, and coordinating internationalization themes and developing global competence within the university community
  • Coordinating university-level international visits and developing visit processes and practices
  • Communicating and interacting with internal and external stakeholders and networks
  • Administrative tasks related to international partnerships and networks: processing documents and agreements; producing analyses, reports, and materials; developing information management and service processes; maintaining the partnership registry
  • Tasks related to communication and events, including organizing events and producing content in Finnish and English

What we’re looking for 

To succeed and enjoy this role, we expect you to have: 

  • A relevant higher education degree, preferably in international affairs, education, and/or higher education policy
  • A few years of prior work experience in international affairs 
  • Strong expertise in various aspects of higher education internationalization
  • Ability to manage and coordinate broad thematic areas
  • Excellent verbal and written English skills
  • At least basic Finnish skills and strong motivation to learn Finnish intensively within 2–3 years
  • Effective work-organizing, project management, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills, as well as multicultural competence
  • A proactive service attitude, teamwork skills, and a development-oriented mindset
  • Good IT skills and ability to work with large datasets

  • Initiative, flexibility, and willingness to learn and grow professionally
  • Additional language skills

Salary and Employment Terms 

This is a permanent position starting January 1, 2026 or as agreed. The salary is based on level 9 of the Finnish universities’ salary system for other expert and support staff. In addition, a personal performance-based salary component (up to 50% of the job-specific component) will be paid. The starting salary for the position is approximately EUR 3500-3800. A six-month trial period applies.
