University trainee

for an 80% part-time traineeship in our development team at the Faculty of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering (ITEE), University of Oulu for the period of 16 February – 30 June 2026.

Are you the University Trainee we’re looking for — ready to turn data, participation, and partnerships into real opportunities and impact for students and companies?

As a trainee, you will join ITEE’s IKAPO project, which aims to optimise ICT expert resources and strengthens innovation capacity in micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs). Its new partnership programme and model for recruitment, work-life encounters, and alumni cooperation foster interaction and channel students’ skills to create value and opportunities for both students and MSMEs. Co-funded by the European Union, the project boosts international students’ career paths, professional development, and smoother employment in North Ostrobothnia.

What will your duties be

As a university trainee, you will contribute to the successful implementation of development actions and depending on your expertise areas and skills, you will:

  • Use your IT skills and AI to compile, process, and analyse large data sets; implement surveys and turn results into clear materials and visualisations for different audiences.
  • Plan, coordinate, market, and deliver diverse programme entities as well as training & collaboration events that strengthen university–industry links as well as student engagement and employment.
  • Develop websites, collaboration and data sharing platforms (e.g., Wix, SharePoint) as well as other tools supporting IKAPO project’s goals.
  • Produce and share impactful content and means of engagement (e.g. event infos, slide decks, web articles, social media posts)
  • Work closely with student communities, staff, and external partners of the project/faculty.

What we expect from you

  • The traineeship is designed as part of the degree studies at the University of Oulu, requiring that you can incorporate it into your current bachelor's or master's studies at the University of Oulu
  • Strong analytical, development, and IT skills, along with the ability to utilise AI tools for compiling, managing, and analyzing large datasets; ability to administer and evolve e.g. Wix/SharePoint sites and other web-based tools.
  • Positive, proactive mindset, self‑direction, and solid problem‑solving skills; strong teamwork skills in an international working environment.
  • Fluent communication and confident presenting in English; ability to produce clear, high‑quality content in English and draft working translations into Finnish when needed.
  • Previous experience in planning, coordinating, and delivering programmes, live events, and/or training sessions. Strong organisational skills and a systematic, goal-oriented approach, with proven ability to manage time effectively and prioritise tasks to achieve impactful outcomes.
  • Experience with survey tools (e.g., Webropol, Microsoft Forms) and with visualising & reporting findings (graphs, infographics, presentations).
  • Proficiency in PowerPoint and image/publishing tools (e.g., Canva, Photoshop, InDesign).
  • Understanding of student wellbeing and a motivation to facilitate students’ smooth transition to working life; familiarity with student communities and communication channels to ensure engagement and impact.

  • Knowledge of Finland’s industry landscape and ITEE’s core technology domains
  • Interest in supporting micro and SME companies through well‑scoped internship and thesis placements that create mutual value.
  • Video creation/editing skills (e.g., Premiere Pro, CapCut).
  • Developing Finnish language skills
  • Driving license and access to a vehicle

Salary

The position is fixed-term starting from 16 February 2026 (or based on agreement) and it will end on 30 June 2026. 

The position is part time (80%) and the salary in the position is 1349,98€/month .
