We are now looking for

Senior Research Fellow

to join us in Research unit at the Faculty of Education and Psychology. The position is placed in the Learning and Educational Technology Lab (LET) located in the research unit “Learning and Learning Processes”, in the faculty. Special characteristics of the research and teaching carried in LET include technology in support of learning and teaching, interaction, and the learning of individuals and groups in various learning environments. Through familiarization with the processes of learning and interaction among individuals and groups, we can provide them with new kinds of solutions for continuous learning and the increasingly technological future. In this way individuals and groups can make use of technology to support intelligent activity and learning in studies, work and everyday life. The data produced by the research carried out in the LET also helps to develop human technology, which is connected with multidisciplinary research cooperation and the utilization of the Leaf space in research. The focus in the research methods is on process-oriented methods and utilization of technology in data collection.

About the job

To be appointed to the job you are required to show evidence of a strong orientation in Learning and Educational Technology (LET) strategic research areas. In addition to the relevant research, the special characteristic of the position is that it includes major responsibility, development and teaching of Learning and Educational Technology international master program. The teaching responsibilities are included in an agreement as part of the annual work plan covering 1612 hours.

Who are you?

In order to succeed and enjoy the position, we expect from you:

  • Doctoral degree in applicable research field, such as learning sciences, educational psychology or educational technology
  • Evidence of scientific research work and strong relevant teaching skills
  • The ability to lead research and experience of acquiring external research funding
  • Sufficient and relevant experience in international scientific work and evidence of international cooperation
  • Experience in supervising of diploma and doctoral students
  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Teaching in international master program is provided in English. Therefore, the current vacancy requires a good command of English.

Salary

The work contract of a Senior Research Fellow is a fixed-term contract aimed to be filled as soon as possible or the latest on May 1st, 2023 and ending April 18th, 2026.

The salary will be based on the levels 6-7 of the demand level chart for teaching and research staff of Finnish universities. In addition, a salary component based on personal work performance will be paid (maximum of 50 % of the job-specific component). Starting gross salary will be approx. 4000-5500 € per month (before taxes).  A trial period of 6 months is applied in the position.
