to join us in Martti Ahtisaari Insitute Research unit at the Oulu Business School
Martti Ahtisaari Institute, established in 2008, is a research and education unit within Oulu Business School at the University of Oulu. The institute conducts research and development activities to create new knowledge on responsible business and global economy.
The Institute operates through research and development projects, executive education programmes and degree education including, for example, a minor in entrepreneurship. We develop our education offerings to respond to the internal needs and external opportunities of our stakeholders. In addition, the institute arranges annually events that provide a forum for discussions and a platform for new insights into the development of the economy and business life. Our research targets include responsible, digital and data-intensive businesses, changing value creation, capture and sharing ecosystems and the emerging real-time access economy.
Martti Ahtisaari Institute | University of Oulu
For the position in Digital Business, we are looking for an internationally oriented scholar who is interested in pursuing inter-disciplinary work in the intersection of entrepreneurship and digitalization to comprehend the implications and relationship between entrepreneurship, innovation, internationalization, and digital transformation. The specific research focus could include, but are not limited to, topics such as responses to disruption, business models and modeling in various contexts, emerging technologies, platforms, or sustainable venturing. Potential research questions of the candidate may focus on aspects such as how business models, modeling and disruption are related. You should be proficient in different theoretical frameworks and theorizing with a focus on qualitative research methodologies.

The position is fixed-term for 5 years as of 1.8.2023 or as soon as possible thereafter.
The salary of an Assistant Professor will be based on levels 5-6, and the salary of an Associate Professor on levels 6-7 in the requirement level chart for teaching and research staff of Finnish universities. In addition, salary includes a component based on personal work performance (maximum of 50 % of the job-specific component). The fulltime salary is approximately 3 500 – 4 100 euros per month for an assistant professor and 4 000 – 5 000 euros per month for an associate professor. A trial period of 6 months is applied in the position.
