Project researcher


to join us in M3S Research unit at the Faculty of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering.


We do research in software-based systems and services with innovative applications in Automotive, Health and Wellness, and Cyber-Physical Systems. We utilize enabling technologies and platforms such as Artificial Intelligence, Edge/Cloud, IoT, Digital Twins, and 5G/6G Networks to achieve our research goals.


Our unit has strong industry collaboration and a proven track record of making a high impact on society. The group has a versatile portfolio of externally funded projects, including Horizon Europe, ITEA, Academy of Finland, and Business Finland. M3S is responsible for teaching software engineering at the Master's and Bachelor's levels. The unit is producing a large number of PhD degrees.


About the job

We invite applications from candidates across fields and disciplines who have strong interpersonal communication skills and organizational skills and are interested in pursuing work across and beyond disciplinary boundaries. Suitable candidates have the capability and passion for working on a research project examining, for example, digitalization, digital skills, the upcoming European Health Data Spaces (EHDS), health data sharing, related governance, and legislation.


As a project researcher, you will:

  • Communicate with stakeholders and Advisory boards to get feedback on the project activities.
  • Market and disseminate project activities, leading to co-designing courses on digital skills targeted for the manufacturing industry according to stakeholder needs. You will find participants and ensure the participation of employees from the manufacturing SMEs in the courses.
  • Plan stakeholder-centric activities in a project examining European Health Data Spaces concerning the target groups, including the Sami population and the companies in the healthcare sector that need access to secondary health data. You will disseminate and market project activities to the communities at the regional, European, and even global levels, e.g., the World Health Organization (WHO). 
  • Organize co-creation activities with the stakeholders and engage stakeholders from public sector entities (e.g., hospitals), companies, and educational institutions (e.g., universities, technical institutes, vocational schools) to understand the region's competence-building needs to facilitate the adoption of European Health Data Spaces.

Who are you?

We expect from you:

  • A master’s degree in a relevant field. We invite candidates with a background in Technology, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Medicine, and Health (or related) research fields to submit applications.
  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills, especially English.
  • Excellent communication and networking skills

Salary

The position is on a fixed term until 31st of December 2024.

The salary will be based on the levels MV6-MV9 of the demand level chart for other experts and support staff of Finnish universities. In addition, a salary component based on personal work performance will be paid (a maximum of 50 % of the job-specific component). The starting gross salary will be approx. 3500 - 4000 EUR per month (before taxes). A trial period of 6 months is applied for the position.
