University Trainees

for 3-4 months on summer 2024. 

Positions

Position 1:

Job description: Development of new materials and applications based on biomaterials (cellulose, lignin etc.), the duties are mainly related to experimental lab work. 
Competence requirement: Background on sustainable materials and their processing and/or (organic) chemistry is a benefit. Basic skills on lab work is a minimum requirement. 

Duration: 3-4 months, starting in May

Position 2:

Job description: Development of catalysts for carbonation reactions. The trainee is expected to perform experimental work and to report the results.

Competence requirement: It is expected a basic knowledge on inorganic chemistry and familiarity with chemical syntheses experiments (especially hydrothermal and solid-state syntheses).

Duration: 15.06.2024-15.08.2024

Salary: 1614,03 €/month

Position 3:

Job description: Laboratory work related to development of low-CO2 construction materials. Tasks include preparation of cement and mortar samples, preparation of chemical solutions, analysis of cement samples with methods such as isothermal calorimetry and compressive strength measurements to mention a few. The aim of the work is to increase the utilization potential of industrial side streams such as slags from metal industry, ashes from energy production, and mining wastes from mining industry. The work is high societal and industrial relevance as evidenced by close collaboration with companies.

Competence requirement: Basics skills in laboratory working is a minimum requirement. Background in sustainable construction materials (mineral residues, cements, and concretes) is considered as benefit.
