We are now looking for a
to join us in the Radio Engineering Group at the Centre for Wireless Communications (CWC) at the Faculty of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering (ITEE).
The research group has a broad focus on RF transceivers, spanning RF integrated circuits and antenna design, signal processing, modeling, and system-on-chip development. Our research is interdisciplinary, at the intersection of wireless communications, radio engineering, and experimentally oriented signal processing. Researchers in the group combine theory and practice to tackle future challenges, making use of our world-class RF laboratory and conducting over-the-air experiments.
We are offering a position for a Doctoral or Postdoctoral researcher in AI/ML-assisted RF transceiver linearization, modeling, and optimization.
Artificial intelligence is gaining popularity in the field of RF transceivers, spanning from design tools and simulations to real-time control, optimization, and RF impairment mitigation. We have two different topical areas that the researcher can focus on:
Topical area 1:
The first topic is AI/ML-assisted digital predistortion (DPD) and transmitter array optimization. The work involves behavioral modeling of power amplifiers, design of digital predistortion algorithms, and experiments and testing in the RF laboratory using both conducted and over-the-air measurements. The scope, activities, and schedule of the work and activities may include some of the following:
Topical area 2:
The second topic focuses on AI/ML-assisted RF system design, modeling, control, and optimization. The work involves AI-based modeling and control of the transceiver chain, including power consumption optimization, calibration, and beamforming. The work may also involve RF circuit design tasks, depending on the candidate. Experiments and testing in the RF laboratory, including both conducted and over-the-air measurements, are also essential for this position. The scope, activities, and schedule of the work and activities may include some of the following:
In both positions, the work can be expanded in different directions based on the candidate's own interests and project needs. You will also participate in various activities as a coworker on the project team, bringing wide expertise across different areas of transmitter linearization and optimization.

Doctoral Researcher position is fixed-term for 3 years as of 01.09.2026 or as soon as possible thereafter. The salary will be based on levels 2–4 of the demand level chart for university-level teaching and research staff at Finnish universities. In addition, a salary component based on personal work performance will be paid (up to 50% of the job-specific component). The starting gross salary will be approximately € 2,800- € 3,000 per month, depending on qualifications. A 6-month trial period applies to the position.
The postdoctoral researcher position is fixed-term for 2 years as of 01.09.2026 or as soon as possible thereafter. The salary will be based on level 5 of the demand level chart for university-level teaching and research staff at Finnish universities. In addition, a salary component based on personal work performance will be paid (up to 50% of the job-specific component). The starting gross salary will be approximately € 3,800–€ 4,200 per month, depending on qualifications. A 6-month trial period applies to the position.
