Faculty of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering, M3S

The University of Oulu is a multidisciplinary, international research university, with about 3,600 employees who produce new knowledge based on high-standards research and provide research based education to build a more sustainable, smarter, and more humane world. The University of Oulu community has about 17,000 people in total. Our northern scientific community operates globally and creates conditions for the emergence of innovations.

We are now looking for

Doctoral Researcher in Vehicular Computing

to join us in the M3S research unit at the Faculty of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering

Empirical Software Engineering in Software, Systems, and Services (M3S) conducts research at a high international level and publishes widely in the top software engineering journals and conferences. M3S has very strong industry collaboration and a proven track record of making a high impact in the industry. The group has a versatile portfolio of externally funded projects, including Horizon Europe, ITEA, the Academy of Finland, and Business Finland.

The M3S research theme on software-based systems and services promotes innovative and intelligent applications in multiple domains, including vehicular computing and sensing. In close collaboration with relevant industry and academic organizations, we study edge-cloud computing continuum for vehicular networks, software-defined vehicle paradigm with a strong practical viewpoint, and applied machine learning and artificial intelligence for vehicular sensing and sensor data processing. Assistant professor Ella Peltonen and professor Tero Päivärinta lead the research theme.
