About the job

As a Postdoctoral Researcher, you will carry out research work within and co-lead a small research team, assist Principal Investigators with writing research proposals, and publish research results in the most esteemed international forums.

As a Doctoral Researcher, you will carry out research work within a research team, publish research results in the most esteemed international forum, attend doctoral courses, and complete your doctoral thesis within 3–4 years.

Who are you?

We are seeking motivated candidates with an interest in reconfigurable antennas/arrays and electromagnetic surfaces for next-generation wireless systems. Specifically, we are looking for individuals interested in the following topics:

  1. Compact wireless body area network antenna systems for future health communication systems;
  2. Modulated reconfigurable/multifunctional metasurfaces for integrated communication and sensing (ISAC) and beyond.

In order to succeed and enjoy the position, knowledge/experience in the following areas are expected:

  • Antennas, arrays, metasurfaces, and/or RF circuit simulation techniques (using tools such as CST Microwave Studio and/or COMSOL Multiphysics)
  • Antennas and RF circuit fundamentals
  • Antenna miniaturization and reconfiguration for wireless transceiver systems
  • Integration of antennas with matching / tunable components and circuits
  • RF/antenna prototyping and measurements

The potential Postdoctoral Researcher is expected to possess at least a PhD / doctoral degree in Science/Engineering (or other applicable equivalent degrees) completed with very good standing and research record. Applicants nearing completion of his/her doctoral degree (less than six months from the official graduation date) can also be considered. The degree must be obtained no more than 10 years ago.

The potential Doctoral Researcher is expected to possess at least a Master of Science/Engineering degree (or other applicable master’s degree) completed with very good grades. Salary

The Postdoctoral Researcher position is for 2 years starting from November 1st, 2024. The salary of the Postdoctoral Researcher will be set at levels 5-6 of the national salary scale for the teaching and research staff of Finnish universities (about €3500/month), depending on past relevant experience.

The Doctoral Researcher position is for 4 years starting from October 1st, 2024. The salary of the Doctoral Researcher will be set at levels 2–4 of the national salary scale for the teaching and research staff of Finnish universities (about €2900/month). The candidate is expected to complete doctoral degree within the duration of the employment.

A trial period of 6 months is applied in all positions.
