Research assistant

At the Oulu Business School, we conduct multidisciplinary business research that meets the needs of companies and the society in a changing world. The research carried out in our three research units is of high international quality. The research mainly addresses the university's strategic focus areas of Understanding humans in change and Digitalization and smart society.

About the job

As a research assistant, you will work in a project funded by Foundation for Economic Education: Activation of business interaction research in the technology-supported LeaF space of the University of Oulu. The goal of the project is to facilitate research activities in management and marketing, especially technology-mediated consumer interaction behavior in Finland in the LeaF environment of the University of Oulu. The project activates business interaction research in the LeaF environment, for example by organizing a multidisciplinary research method course and conducting pilot research studies. Your workplace is located in Oulu, so we assume that you can participate in our activities weekly from Oulu. Working hours are flexible and part-time at 50% working time.

As a research assistant:

You will participate in the collection, analysis and reporting of physiological data at LeaF. You will assist in the preparation, communication and organization of a multidisciplinary research method course. You will participate in planning and implementing the project's communication. As far as possible, you will assist in the preparation of research funding applications.

What we expect from you?

In order to succeed and enjoy the position, we expect from you:

  • A bachelor's degree in business administration or an equivalent degree.
  • Active and independent approach to work and versatile interaction and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in an interdisciplinary team in English.
  • Interest in participating in developing the use of the LeaF space for management and marketing research and teaching.
  • Participation in the project and weekly presence in Oulu.

We also appreciate:

  • Interest in physiological measurement technology and multimodal methods, statistical research, and interdisciplinary work.
  • Interest in technology-mediated consumer marketing.
  • Motivation to prepare your thesis from the research data collected in the project.
  • Previous experience and interest in research work and postgraduate studies.
  • Finnish language skills

Salary

The position is fixed term and part-time (50%) for 5 months as of 01.09.2023 or as soon as possible thereafter.

The salary will be based on the level 01 of the demand level chart for teaching and research staff of Finnish universities. In addition, a salary component based on personal work performance will be paid (maximum of 50 % of the job-specific component). Gross salary will be approx. 1000-1100 € per month (before taxes) A trial period of 1 month is applied in the position.
