We are now looking for a
to join us in History, Culture and Communication Studies Research Unit (HIKUVIE) for a part-time (50%), fixed-term substitute position starting from 24 August 2026 until 31 May 2027.
The Research Assistant will work within the European Commission’s Horizon Europe-funded ICEBERG “Innovative community engagement for building effective resilience and Arctic Ocean pollution-control governance in the context of climate change” project (2024-2027). The ICEBERG project is led by the University of Oulu (Lead Coordinator). The Research Assistant will support the lead coordinating team in the management of the project.
As a Research Assistant for the ICEBERG project, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the project management and coordination team. You will be jointly supervised by Dr Thora Herrmann, the project leader, and Dr Élise Lépy, the project manager. Your responsibilities will include:

The position is a part-time (50%), fixed-term substitute position starting from 24 August 2026 until 31 May 2027 (or as agreed).
The salary will be based on the levels 3-4 of the demand level chart for other expert and support staff of Finnish universities. In addition, a salary component based on personal work performance will be paid (maximum of 50 % of the job-specific component). Starting gross salary will be approx. 1100-1300 EUR per month (before taxes). A trial period of 4 months is applied to the position.
