Faculty of Science, Nano and Molecular Systems

The University of Oulu is a multidisciplinary, international research university, with about 3,600 employees who produce new knowledge based on high-standards research and provide research based education to build a more sustainable, smarter, and more humane world. The University of Oulu community has about 17,000 people in total. Our northern scientific community operates globally and creates conditions for the emergence of innovations.

We are now looking for a

Postdoctoral researcher in non-equilibrium theory of superconducting quantum device arrays

to join us in Nano and Molecular Systems Research Unit at the Faculty of Science.

About the job

The postdoctoral researcher position is in the Research Council of Finland research project “Non-equilibrium many-body phenomena in arrays of superconducting quantum devices” 2023-2027 led by Associate Professor Matti Silveri.

We are looking for a talented research-oriented person interested in theoretical and computational research on non-equilibrium quantum matter physics, such as dynamical quantum phase transitions and sub/superradiance in arrays of transmon and fluxonium devices. The research is situated in the focal point of non-equilibrium phenomena, condensed matter physics, open quantum systems, quantum devices and quantum information.

The postdoctoral researcher will carry out research work within a research team, publish research results in leading international scientific journals, take part in funding acquisition, contribute in teaching (max 5 % of the total yearly working hours) and supervision. In addition, the postdoctoral research may participate in administrative tasks of the research unit.
