Communication Specialist

(in between 1.12.2025-31.12.2028) to join the H2BRIDGE project, an EU-funded international collaboration between Finland and Sweden, focused on advancing solar hydrogen production using printed photocatalytic panels.

About the H2BRIDGE project

H2BRIDGE – Advancing Solar Hydrogen Production through Photocatalytic Printed Panels is funded by the Interreg Aurora programme and led by the University of Oulu in partnership with Luleå University of Technology. The project aims to develop a scalable, modular panel reactor system for producing hydrogen from sunlight and water, particularly for remote, off-grid, and industrial applications in Northern Finland and Sweden.
The project collaborates with municipalities, SMEs, academic institutions, NGOs, and Sámi representatives to promote regional economic growth, environmental sustainability, and inclusive innovation.
Communication is a core component of H2BRIDGE. It supports stakeholder engagement, policy influence, industry uptake, and public awareness, all essential for scaling up green hydrogen innovation in the Arctic and beyond.

Your role

As the Communication Specialist, you will coordinate and implement the external and internal communication strategy of the H2BRIDGE project in close collaboration with the project manager, research teams (WP1–WP3), and cross-border partners.

Your tasks will include:
•    Strategic communication planning and implementation throughout the project lifecycle
•    Organizing public events, workshops, pilot reactor demonstrations, and community Q&A sessions in collaboration with municipalities, industry partners, and Sami communities. 
•    Coordinating project branding and visibility across all channels, in line with Interreg and EU guidelines
•    Managing and updating the H2BRIDGE website and project presence on LinkedIn, ensuring consistent and engaging content
•    Supporting the preparation and publishing of press releases, media articles, stakeholder newsletters, infographics, and videos

You will be a key enabler of transparency, outreach, and collaboration, helping make H2BRIDGE an internationally visible model for sustainable energy innovation.

What we expect from you

•    A relevant education (minimum bachelor's degree, e.g., communications, journalism, science communication, international relations, or a related field)
•    Strong experience in science communication, project communication, or EU-funded project visibility
•    Experience with organizing events, public engagement activities, or multi-stakeholder communication
•    Excellent writing, editing, and content production skills in English (fluency in Finnish and/or Swedish is an asset)
•    Familiarity with content management systems, graphic design, and social media management tools
•    Ability to translate complex scientific or technical content into clear and engaging messages
•    Proactive, self-directed work style with strong organizational skills
•    Experience working in an international or cross-sectoral environment is an advantage

Salary 

This is a part-time position (33%) with a fixed term from 1.12.2025 to 30.11.2028.
The salary will be based on level 8 on the demand level chart for other expert and support staff of Finnish universities. In addition, a salary component based on personal work performance will be paid (a maximum of 50 % of the job-specific component). The starting gross salary will be approximately 1000-1200 euros per month, before taxes, at a 33% workload. The position includes access to University of Oulu employee benefits such as occupational healthcare, paid annual leave proportional to the work percentage, and participation in university events and training.

A trial period of 6 months is applied.
