We are now looking for a

Postdoctoral Researcher in Medical Image Analysis 

to join us in the Center for Machine Vision and Signal Analysis (CMVS) at the Faculty of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering (ITEE) to work on the research project “Towards reading retinal fundus images for real-world clinical applications” led by Academy Research Fellow Qing Liu.

CMVS is a creative, open and internationally attractive research center, combining the expertise of University of Oulu computer vision and biosignal analysis scientists. We have achieved ground-breaking research results in many areas of its activity, including texture analysis, facial image analysis, 3D computer vision, energy-efficient architectures for embedded systems, and biomedical engineering. 

About the job

This position is be part of the Academy Research Fellow project "Towards reading retinal fundus images for real-world clinical applications". As a postdoctoral researcher, you will work in the field of medical image analysis and machine learning, carrying out also the following tasks:

  1. Collect and process multimodal data with group members;
  2. Implement and develop different multimodal multi-agent methods for eye healthcare.

Who are you?

We require from you:

  • Doctoral degree in computer science, electrical engineering, biomedical engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related area. The doctoral degree must have been completed by the application closing date. The degree must have been obtained within the past 10 years.
  • Ability for independent scientific work
  • Fluent in written and spoken English

In addition, we consider it an advantage for you to demonstrate previous experience and publications on computer vision, medical image analysis, machine learning algorithm design, or a related area.

Salary

The position is fixed-term until 31.08.2027, starting as soon as possible.

The salary will be based on the levels 5-6 of the demand level chart for teaching and research staff of Finnish universities. In addition, a salary component based on personal performance will be paid (up to 50% of the job-specific component). The starting gross salary will be approximately. 3700-4300 € per month (before taxes).  

A 6-month trial period applies to the position.
